A little bit of vertigo

Funny thing how this photo worked out. I took it only handheld, without even looking through the viewfinder (there was no way I could get my head there :) ) and at a very high ISO (3200 that is). So it’s not as sharp and clean as I would like, but still I like it :)

Taken in the monastery in Melk, Austria.

Monastery Church in Dürnstein

Monastery Church in Dürnstein

Durnstein is a lovely small city in Austria. Perfect for a day trip. They have a lovely church, a castle ruin and some great views. And one more thing that really counts for me, they allow the use of tripods in the church (I asked :) ). The day I was in the church the weather was quiet ugly, and I was there quite early in the morning, so for around 15 minutes I had the whole church just for myself :)

I took 7 shots here, but used only 3 for a manual blend.

Blue hour in Vienna

Blue hour in Vienna

This was taken during summer last year. It was a strange day to take photos in Vienna, as there was a football match between Austria and Germany (if I remember correctly) that day, and the city was full of people watching it on screens everywhere :)

After most of my recent photos were blended images, this is again a HDR. I’m continuing my experiments with blending, but as the results are not really share-worthy right now, I’m sharing normal HDR photos instead :)

Small nativity scene

The 2012 Photoblog Award

I can’t believe my blog was selected as one of the 20 best photoblogs of 2012 by Photoblog Awards. It came as a really big surprise for me. It’s a great end to the last year and great start to a new one. The compelte list can be found on the Photoblog Awards page.

Small nativity scene

I visited Vienna for few hours yesterday, and of course I also took few photos :) This is a small nativity scene in the St. Stephens Cathedral in Vienna. There were two of these, one of each side of the cathedral. This HDR is only from a single RAW file, as no tripods allowed and for this I held the camera down on a railing. Looks quite good for a 2s exposure :)
